Reading of Mission Statement and Approval of Minutes

The Mission Statement was read aloud at the beginning of the meeting. Minutes from the previous meeting were read aloud and approved as read.

Executive Director's Report

Renters. We are close to formalizing a rental agreement for both the cottage and the garage apartment. The three prospective renters are coming over today to check things out. We reduced the rent in the cottage to $600 from $650. We have to write up a rental agreement, get a background check and do some repairs before October 1st, which is when Stacy hopes to move in to the cottage. The move-in date for the garage apartment would be November 1st, and we have lots of repairs to do for that as well.

Roof. It looks like we may get coverage for both the roof and the inside damage. We're waiting for the final word from the insurance company.

Finances. We'll probably receive about $800 from Community Shares around the end of the month, and maybe $500 from bingo around October 20th. Bob then distributed the Cash Analysis for the month, showing that we lost only about $250 this month, which is better than we have been doing in the past, but he pointed out that it has been up and down so it's not something we can necessarily count on.

Online Social Networking. Pam and Bruce Hop met with Kaci Hampton on Tuesday, and she's taking an active role with the web 2.0 media. She has decided to use the center photos as a project which she will work on here every Monday night for an hour or two.

Penny's Report

Connections with other organizations. Tina told us about the meetup group for Austin Over 40's Single Adventurers, so Penny called and talked to the leader of the group to explore the possibility of connections between our groups. She sent him a link to the Center and hasn't heard back from him. However, Tina took flyers for the self esteem workshop to their meeting and put them around on the tables.

Finances. Penny looked into Cars for Causes because her friend has a new car. They have drop off places and will pick up, then they sell the car and give 70% to the nonprofit. Penny will check with her friend to see if she wants to donate her old car to the Center Penny also talked about a local eBay consignment shop, and Pam will research whether there are any such shops in Austin and whether they could help us raise money. Also, Kathy said she thinks that Gone for Good may not be a good connection for the Center right now.

Since there was no further business, the meeting adjourned at around 4:53 pm.
